Hi Jeff - I missed out a vital word - it's corten steel, originally developed for US industrial rail containers that could withstand a lot of weathering http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Weathering_steel . I think it will look fantastic against the dark grey of the stone in the garden setting of Asthall Manor http://allsteelsculpture.com/content/view/25/36/

That's the plan anyway...

The rendering of the object is to give it a stone effect and not a literal image of the finished piece. I intend to use either carrara or bardiglio marble for the sculpture.

Also am attracted to your design. Perhaps the difference in height of the two ends should be slightly greater. How will the mottling be done? I'd prefer the choice of stone that would enable one the ends to have a sizeable patch of weathered stone.

It will definitely need to be pinned. Not sure exactly what the plinth will be made of yet.

Of all three sculptures, I prefer the 3rd design, more for what it respresents. The first sculpture represneted the fragility of life whilst the second represented communication. I feel that the third scultpure encompasses all of the above aspects and more. There is also protection, support and more importantly growth. Growth which is vital as it enables us to experience, learn and dream.
I think this best represents the league of great nurses and nurses to be, as it also shows and directs the journey of becoming part of something good and brilliant.

This is fantastic, the smooth rounded layout has an attraction. Its therapeutic and does have a more calm feel to it. The feeling of surport is a perfect reflection towards the nursing culture, everyone of us will strugle to function without it. Growth is too a monumental feature as the nurse is always growing in experience, knowledge, wisdom and understanding. We too are protected by the many things around us by our strnegth of character and this does too link in with surport from our nursing colleagues, friends and family members. I hope i get to see this sculpture as its a perfect reflection of nursing in my eyes.

I would enjoy to look at this, because its curvature resembles life's struggles. You never really know what to expect around each corner.
